Voyant Lands 100-Store CKE Rollout
Proving 15-20& energy-cost reduction in pilot program
Dateline: September 10, 2013
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, North Carolina—Voyant Solutions, a leading supplier of web-enabled, multisite energy management and monitoring services, has been awarded a 100-store contract with CKE Restaurants, the franchise corporation behind the Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. fast-food burger chains.
After establishing success with one Paradigm Investments, a San Diego, California-based CKE franchisee operating 90 Hardee’s locations throughout the Southeast region of the U.S., Voyant leveraged the relationship to introduce its services to the corporate-level management.
With Voyant’s XtraVisionQSR in place across its entire chain for as long as five years in some stores, Paradigm was reporting 20-percent average annual per-store energy savings, with subsequent return-on-investment expectations at a brief 14 months.
In that time, CKE corporate was likewise trying to implement a single-point energy-management program across its chain, but was largely unsuccessful in finding a viable supplier. Aware of this, Paradigm brought CKE and Voyant together, resulting in a 9-store CKE pilot program.
“After working with Voyant for one year, CKE Restaurants was seeing average energy savings of 12 percent and as high as 18 percent per-store in some sites,” explains CKE Restaurants Holdings’ Director of Energy, Juliann Rogers. “This resulted in a projected simple ROI of 1.6 to just over 2 years, inspiring the organization to pull the trigger on a company-wide rollout now underway in 2013.”
